SMILE NO BULLYING CONFERENCE PAGE
The Smile No Bullying Conference happened on Wednesday 13th May 2009.  It was held at
Newstead Miners Welfare in Newstead Village.  The stalls were open from 9.30am, registrations
and drinks were at 10am, and the conference officially started at 10.30am with an opening speech
from Helen Mycock who is from Valuing People Now.

Throughout the day we had lots of performances and dances, a speech from Mr Vernon Coaker who
is Nottingham's MP, workshops, an update on the Smile No Bullying Project, and a talk from the
Nottinghamshire Hate Crime Team

Pledges:

Publicise support services in appropriate places.

The Police to give more information about disability
hate crime.

Nottinghamshire County Council to consider faster and more
effective complaints process for disabled people.

The new Arnold Town football ground had disabled facilities;
we could maybe consider this venue for the next conference.
Overall it was a great day, 98 people attended in total this was a good mix of
34 service users and 64 staff.
